January 2012 Full Moon Show on the Mess

Looking back over the last few months, I see that have been rather neglectful of this blog. Something does seem to happen to me often. In an attempt to correct that, I am going to begin again with posting play lists from Murphy's Magic Mess on Lincoln's KZUM and show notes from the various talk shows I do.

We begin with the January 2012 full moon play list from Murphy's Magic Mess. Airing on January 8th, this play list is a combined effort by Murf, Corwin and myself. The show started out with me behind the boards. Rather frustratingly, the previous show ran up right to the hour and left me seconds to get set up. But we muddled through the first hour without too much trouble. Murf moved over to the boards shortly after the top of the second hour and took over from there. Corwin selected a few pieces here and there towards the bottom of the hour. We all hope that our listeners enjoyed the selection.

Our friends in the music business are always sharing new and wonderful music with us. Jose Luis Serrano Esteban, Uwe Gronau, Michael Brant DeMaria, and Tron Syversen are just four of the artists to send us some of their newest music.
  1. Inkubus Sukkubus - Wytches' Chant '98

Winter Holiday Mess

Murf and her minions are preparing for the Winter Holidays with a mess of holiday favorites, old and new. Be sure to tune in each week to hear what new and exciting music we have found, as well as keep up to date on some of the Pagan news, both local and world wide. You can catch us live on the radio at 89.3 FM in Lincoln, Ne, on Time Warner Cable channel 10 in Lincoln and surrounding areas, and on the web at KZUM's web site with streaming audio. You can also catch our recent shows on our MySpace page (due to FCC regulations we are only able to provide the show as a video stream (non-download) for a period not to exceed 14 days from original post date).

We sincerely apologize to our online listeners that the show was not available for streaming this morning. We were informed by the host of Glorious Gospel that one of their listeners had called, but he was not sure who to call. Emails and phone calls were made over the course of the show and we hope to have gotten the problem fixed. Unfortunately it did not happen during our broadcast.

But, we were able to actually record the show this morning. We had been having equipment issues for the last couple of weeks, but those have been taken care for the nonce. You will be able to catch today's show on the MySpace page.

And now on to the show:
As it is Yule season, we have been playing a selection of holiday music, both vocal and instrumental. We are ALWAYS open to requests, so if there is a new age or Pagan holiday song you would like to hear, please drop me a comment or send me an email and I will do my best to get it on the air for you.

Once again we had a nice selection of newer releases to play from today, as well as many of our old favorites.

I do my best to get you web info and such on many of our artists that we play. Today, not so much. I may get the chance to do an update to this posting before the end of the week. I have been working very long and odd hours the last several weeks and am feeling it. But I will be doing what I can to make sure that you get your play lists ASAP. In the meantime, do not forget to visit our MySpace page to catch some previous shows in video format. Who knows, one day we may get the chance to piece together some stills of Murf and her minions, as well as photos of some of the artists that we frequently play and put them all together into a video for you! Oi, I can hear Murf cursing me for that idea already....

Tune in next week and we will be entertaining you with even more seasonal songs. Among other offerings, we have Leigh Anne Hussey's Homebrewed Carols and Loreena McKennitt's holiday albums. Hope to catch you all next Sunday!

The Mess for Sunday, October 19, 2009

Greetings and well met, my friends! Thank you for being so patient with me. I am attempting to get caught up on my blogging for the Mess and for Pagan-Musings. I know I am VERY far behind on PM, but at least the Mess is going to be easy to get caught up on. :)

Sunday was a wonderful show, as always! We had another visit from the Polka Goddess (Thursday mornings at 10am CST) and she suppliedus with some rather interesting animal polka music to fit with week two of our Animal song marathon.

We also wrapped up our pledge drive with getting another $1000 pledge from a faithful listener, Stephanie. THANK YOU!

Be sure to tune in weekly at 9am CST on Sundays to catch Murphy's Magic Mess. Murph is there EVERY week and Damon most every week. For a little while I will be sporadic in my attendance. I have gotten a new job and we are still working out the details of my availability. Looks like I will be at the station only once a month for a little while, but I am going to keep up on these postings as long as Damon remembers to send me the set lists every week! Unfortunately, work does not allow us to listen to the radio, so those Sundays that I am not at the studio I do not get to listen to the show.

But, I will be there this Sunday as we start our decent into the Dark of the Year. Listen for songs by Marc Gunn off his happy Songs of Death CD (released August 2009) as well as more from the Epic of Gilgamesh and other interesting takes on Death and Dying.

We should also have a special guest coming this weekend, Dale Bacon will be gracing us with his presence and we will talk about the Ghosts of Lincoln tour that he conducts each year, as well as other aspects of his interesting and unique story telling style. I am definitely looking forward to it and I hope you are as well.

Pax Musica!
