Greetings and well met, our friends and listeners! We had a slow start to our first program, due to technical difficulties. We did manage to pull it off, though! Thank you to Aut and Lostrayne on the East Coast for showing their support in the chat room and listening to Kali and I get our wits about us.

The primary purpose of this first episode was to test the waters and see if we could get most of what we were doing figured out. I think we did manage to do so, but only time will tell. Our next episode will hopefully have less technical errors in programming and more success with our conversational continuity.

I would like to apologize for the dead air time towards the end of the show, it would seem that I somehow lost my connection with Skype for a minute and didn't realize until after I had been babbling for a minute or two without anyone able to hear me. I hope to be able to catch that before it happens again. But, for a first time out, I think it was rather successful! KaliSara was such a trooper in putting up with me while I was learning the ropes.

One last note, a correction actually, before going on to specifics about this episode and future shows. I did not have a calendar in front of me so I misspoke about the upcoming show This is My Athame. It is scheduled for Saturday, August 15^th, I had said the 10^th, which is a Tuesday. A little hard to do a Saturday show on Tuesday. My apologies for any confusion.

Attendees may arrive as early as 6:30pm for check-in. These sessions are an opportunity to celebrate the new moon in an open and welcoming atmosphere as well as help to boost one's own energies if in a time of need.

3. The Pagan Alliance Network's Meditation and Divination Night is scheduled for Saturday, July 25^th at 7pm at the home of Phil Kessler. The Meditation and Divination night is intended as a means to practice both meditation techniques and divination. Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite divinatory tools.

4. The Pagan Alliance Network is hosting it's Second Annual Yard Sale on Friday, July 31st-Sunday, August 2^nd from 10am-6pm at the home of Julia. The show is scheduled for Sunday, August 2^nd at 8pm CST. They will be discussing the Pagan Alliance Network and Rev. Kessler's work with past life insights and regressions. Greetings, once again! Thank you for listening to Murphyy's Magic Mess on KZUM 89.3FM in Lincoln, NE or on the web at www.kzum.org, and Lincoln Time Warner Cable channel 10.

I am going to show the two main looks of Damon, the Pocket Pirate a.k.a. Sir Fluff. the first picture is Damon looking all cool at the microphone with his dark glasses and slicked hair. The second one is Sleepy Damon from a couple of weeks ago. Poor man came in tired off his feet, bedraggled and barely dressed - that is, he was dressed by not as dressed as Damon usually. Too bad I didn't get a picture of him in his kilt from last week! Will have to see if we can catch him in that again. Ooolahlah!

Unfortunately, I do have to be a good boy and avoid posting any pictures that could be compromising to Damon or the radio station. But that doesn't mean I can't take them! /evil grin/

As promised: Murphy's Magick Mess is now available online to listen to any time of day or night! Sometime today the new site will be totally up and running. Damon has worked out a way to put the show on MySpace.com, you do not need to have a MySpace account to access the show. We will have a brief instruction list for how to access the show for those who are not familiar with MySpace. Due to FCC regulation regarding music programs, we are only able to have the show on the site for two weeks at a time, so if you missed a program, be sure to check for it within two weeks of that date. It is being broadcast on MySpace as a video file, which means it will not be downloadable nor will you be able to put certain songs on repeat. But we will have playlists for the shows, going all the way back to the mid 1990's, when Murf took over from Cindy Clarity's Spiral Dance. There will also be a link to this blog and other related information. I am still working out some details with Damon and Murf, but we might have some rather interesting things going on with the MySpace site. So keep checking it weekly for updates other than just the show.

Tonight, Sunday 12th, at 6pm is the Open Full Moon Circle hosted by the Order of the Red Grail, Church for transformational Wicca at the Unitarian Church at 6300 A Street. The meet and greet portion of the evening begins at 6pm with the Circle to follow at 7pm. All are welcome and there is no charge for this event.

Thursday, July 16th, at 7pm is this month's DolphinMoon Coven Seeker Class hosted by DolphinMoon Coven at Phil's apartment. This month's topic is Comparative Religions. Hello, loyal listeners! Hope you all enjoyed the show this weekend. After Murf threw me onto the boards and I got a handle on things, I enjoyed the show very much! I did get my revenge, though:

April 12-19

Sunday, 12th of April: Easter Sunday (Resurrection Day)
First Day of the Festival of Cerealia: Roman holy day. The Festival of Cerealia was a seven day festival in honor of the Goddess Ceres. The exact date of the festival is uncertain, but most likely occurred from April 12 to April 19. Other possible start dates include the Ides of April (April 13) andApril 7. Note that the Romans used a lunar calendar. This date is a generalized date for the modern calendar. This Roman holy day may be on a different day if calculated using the ancient Roman lunar calendar.
In the city of Rome, Cerealia was the primary festival for Ceres. In Rome the festival was accompanied by the Ludi Ceriales, or the “Games of Cere”, which were held int he Circus Maximus. Ovid wrote in Fasti iv. 494 that Roman women clothed in white ran about the city with lighted torches to represent Ceres’ (Demeter’s) search for her daughter Proserpina (Persephone). The modern English word “cereal” comes from the name of the Roman Goddess Ceres.

According to Jon D. Mikalson (in “The Noumenia and Epimenia in Athens”, The Harvard Theological Reviews, Vol. 65, No. 2, April, 1972, page 291), “In an ordinary year there were twelve Noumeniai, and thus they form a large and important series of “holy” days. There is no indication in the sources that the religious activities on the Noumenia of one month varied from those of another month, and therefore the Noumeniai may be treated as a single homogenous group.
“The strictmess with which the Athenians preserved the sanctity and the independent identity of the Noumenia is striking. No annual religious festival is attested to have occurred on the Noumenia or to have included it. Not one of the positvely dated meetings of Athenian legislative assemblies such as the Ekklesia, the Boule, or a tribal organization is attested to have occurred on the first day of a month.”

Now, back to some of the excitement this morning. Mwahaha! I gave Murf a CD of music that was given to me by one of my PaganSpace.net friends. Pagan heavy metal, let's hope she approves some or all of it for playing on the show. Windcaller spent some time assembling that for me and I don't want it to go to waste.

When Murf let me run the boards I got pick some of the music. So I played Sacred Ceremony off of Gerald Jay Markoe's Meditation Music of Ancient Egypt. As we go I will be picking more and more of the music. I have started putting together collections for the Sabbats and will be bringing them with me.

Sarah Visits the Mess on the 29th

Well, everyone, looks like Sarah is going to be visiting the Mess this weekend. Yay for grandparents! her wonderful parental units have offered to babysit her son this weekend so that she can come join us for a while at the studio.
